Speech and Language Services

We provide the following services:Assessments may include standardised testing (if needed) and/or observational assessment. Feedback can be given orally or as a written report depending on what is needed.Diagnosis. A diagnosis is made based on a combination of assessment results, clinical observations, parent and school feedback and relevant reports from other professionals.Interventions/Therapy SessionsUsing all information gathered, an individualised therapy plan will be developed. Speech and language therapy sessions will begin if required. In some cases, families may be provided with a home programme to work from if therapy is not needed.Parent coaching approaches are used to support parents to build on their child's play and communication skills.Family involvement is essential. Therapy goals are most effective when they are supported on a daily basis at home or at school.

About Louise Frazer

I qualified in New Zealand as a speech language therapist and primary school teacher. I have over 35 years experience working with children aged from birth to 18 years of age. I recently returned to New Zealand after working for the past 30 years in Scotland, England and Barbados.I believe every child has the right to reach their true potential and that communication is a fundamental and essential human right. I strongly believe in the importance of early intervention and understand the anxiety parents may feel when concerns arise about their children's communication, play and feeding development.I am trained to provide the following specialised programs: Hanen Parent Programs: including More than Words, It Takes Two to Talk, Talkability, and I'm Ready.I am an SOS certificated feeding therapist and have completed a range of SOS trainings including Picky Eating and Problem Feeding and Feeding the Child on the Autism Spectrum.I am qualified to administer the ADOS Autism Assessment as part of a multi-disciplinary team and have many years of experience working with toddlers and young children with Autism.I am also a trained Lidcombe Stuttering Therapist.In the area of literacy, I am Orton Gillingham and Jolly Phonics trained.
